At Safe Space Housing we understand that safe living accommodation is not only crucial to alleviating the obvious physical impact of homelessness, it also establishes a sense of security that has a profound impact on an individual’s emotional and mental wellbeing.

Through provision of high-quality, managed accommodation and dedicated housing support we help our service users to develop an understanding of tenancy agreements and maintenance, and how to sustain a healthy living environment thereby supporting their first step towards independent living.

Safe Space- Accommodation & Independence

01. Household maintenance
  • Understanding how appliances work and able to use them safely
  • Able to report a repair
  • Able to complete chores around the home- create and follow a cleaning rota
  • Able to dispose of waste and recycling correctly
  • Understand and able to top up gas/electricity meter

05. Planning , organisation & correspondence
  • Able to book and attend appointment on time
  • Able to attend appointments unaccompanied
  • Understand how to manage and organise time using diary, calendar, or other system.
  • Have own email address- able to send and reply to emails
  • Able to read, understand and respond to letters as required.
  • Have own mobile phone..
02. Financial management
  • Has own bank account
  • Understands how to pay in/ withdraw and contact bank, council tax, utilities
  • Understand how to set up new utility account
  • Able to create and follow a budget- essentials and savings
  • Paying off debts
03. Identification

Understand how to attain correct ID and able to complete relevant paperwork, i.e. birth certificate/passport

04. Benefits
  • Attends job centre appointments as required
  • Understand commitments and sanctions
  • Able to contact job centre to arrange/cancel appointments and/or provide information re: change of circumstances
  • Understand PIP eligibility and application process
  • Able to read, understand and complete relevant paperwork
